Stoma Care Project

One of our projects provides support for patients across Sudan who have had a stoma operation. Our stoma care project has three key areas, which all provide support to help people learn how to look after their stoma and live a happy and comfortable life post-surgery.

1. education and support

We work with patients who have stomas created and teach them how to care for their stoma. We teach people how and when to empty their stoma, how to keep their stoma clean, and what activities may be impacted by a stoma.

2. train stoma nurses

Our team runs training for stoma nurses so they know how to carry out full patient aftercare and understand what psychological support their patients might need.

3. provide stoma equipments

As healthcare in Sudan isn’t free, many people struggle to pay for the medical supplies and equipment that they need. We cover the costs of stoma care equipment for patients including stoma bags, medicine, and aftercare treatments.
